Candidate for Mayor hopes to spur increased voter participation

“Our City is more than an urban centre,” said Watson. “Every candidate for office has to strive to be as accessible as possible. Ottawa covers a far-reaching area – with over 900,000 residents – and I want to be able to communicate with everyone, whether they live in Centretown, Cumberland, Goulbourn or Kanata. This website is a great tool for every voter to get in touch with me and to ensure that I am hearing their views and thoughts on the future of our City and the priorities we should be considering.”

“This site gives people from across the City a chance to participate in a ‘virtual listening tour’,” said Watson. “Effective today, the people of Ottawa can send in their thoughts and views on how to make our great city a better place to live, work, visit and invest.”

The fully bilingual campaign website includes links to social media outlets, campaign videos and pictures, as well as different ways to share opinions and ideas on policy issues. Voters can also request lawn signs, make a donation, register to volunteer or find out about campaign events. Also, the candidate’s policy announcements will be featured prominently as the campaign unfolds.

The Jim Watson Campaign is proud to be partnering with Pondstone for its web development needs. Pondstone is a successful Ottawa communications and technology small business that is contributing to the diversification of the city’s economy by creating value-added jobs in the Information Technology sector.

“I encourage all candidates in the upcoming municipal election to do everything in their power to engage people from across the City of Ottawa and from all walks of life to take part in the next election”, said Watson. It is my hope that by being accessible to every voter and getting people involved in the issues that matter, we can create a richer community in Ottawa.”

“The City of Ottawa is the 4th largest municipality in the country. We have to engage people and get them involved and my website was created with a view to fostering that engagement.”
