Blog: April Campaign Update

What a first month on the campaign trail!

One month ago, I officially registered to run for re-election as Mayor in the October 27 election.

Since then, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of positive support. Our campaign team was very pleased to see 500 volunteers sign up in the first week alone – a milestone that it took us six months to reach in 2010. In addition, hundreds more of our friends and neighbours have provided their words of support and encouragement, both in person and online.

I am so proud of the progress we’ve made together, and appreciate that so many residents feel the same way.

Campaign rally this Sunday

This Sunday, April 27 at 2 pm, we will be gathering at the RA Centre on Riverside Drive for a rally to kick off the campaign.

Everyone is welcome. I hope you will come out with your friends and family to chat with other supporters, learn about volunteer opportunities and enjoy some refreshments.

Please RSVP if you haven’t already here:

Do you want to get involved in the campaign?

Ottawa is a big city and we will need a big team to help get our message across.

We need many more volunteers to help with knocking on doors, organizing events, delivering pamphlets, doing office work, and many more important tasks.

While the busiest part of the campaign will come when we open our campaign office later in the summer, our campaign team will still be very active in the months ahead. That means that we’ll need your help early and often!

I’m joining Instagram

I’m also pleased to announce that I will be joining Instagram. I enjoy interacting with residents on Twitter and Facebook, and look forward to trying out a new platform.

Tomorrow on Instagram, I will showing you a #DayInTheLife behind the scenes as I attend several events and meetings, as well as be participate in #ThrowbackThursday.

Hope you will follow me at JimWatsonOttawa!

See you soon!
