Blog: August Campaign Update

With just 75 days remaining until Election Day, I wanted to give you a quick update about how the campaign is coming along.

I’ve been on the campaign trail for almost five months now, and the message I have heard at the door is very clear: Ottawa is on the right track. Residents agree that we need to continue to work together to keep our city on the path of stability and certainty.

Campaign Office Opening

Office_opening.jpgIf you know me, you know I’m a big fan of cutting ribbons! Whether it’s a community facility, a transportation improvement or a small business – cutting a ribbon is a clear sign of progress. It’s a chance to celebrate a milestone, while reminding ourselves about the hard work and positive moments yet to come.

On that note, I was very pleased to cut the ribbon to officially open my campaign office in the heart of Chinatown this past weekend. I was grateful to have about 300 residents come out to show their support for the progress our city is making. It was great to speak with supporters about their priorities and how they want to help on the campaign, while enjoying a barbecue lunch from local philanthropist Dave Smith.

My campaign office is now open at 725 Somerset Street West (between Bronson and Rochester) on weekdays from 8:30 am to 7 pm and on weekends from 10 am to 2 pm. Be sure to stop in to learn more about the campaign!

Community Outreach

Canvassing.jpgJust as we’ve been doing since the chilly days of March, our amazing team of volunteers has been spreading the word of progress in all 23 wards across our city. Why? Because we’re not taking anything for granted in this election. Not even for a second.

As we pick up the pace even more over the coming weeks, you can sign up to volunteer here. I hope I can count on your time and skills to help secure a strong mandate at the ballot box on October 27.

You’ll also see our team out at the Capital Pride parade on Sunday, August 24 – another one of our many community outreach activities we’ve been doing all summer long. Come by to say “hello” if you’re attending – it should be a lot of fun!

Fall Campaign Rally

Rally.JPGYou’re also invited to join me at a big campaign rally on Monday, September 15 at 7 p.m. as we begin the final march to Election Day.

Please let us know if you’re able to make it by registering here.

See you soon.
