Blog: Summer Campaign Update

It’s hard to believe, but this weekend marks 100 days until the October 27 election! Our campaign is now in full swing as we reach out to residents in every corner of our beautiful city. I’m pleased to give you a quick update about how everything is going.

Community outreach

Just as I always do in between elections, my team and I have been attending as many events as possible to speak with residents.

Most recently, we had a booth at HOPE Volleyball to spread the word about priorities such as the Ottawa River Action Plan and Stage 2 of light rail transit. There was great energy all day long as we signed up lots of volunteers. And, our “Night Mayors” volleyball team went 9-0. Not bad at all!

Be sure to keep an eye out for our volunteers at other community events throughout the summer!

Canvassing.jpgWe’ve been very lucky to have such great weather for canvassing! Our volunteers have been working hard in dozens of neighbourhoods, knocking on doors and talking about the progress we’re making as a city.

Canvassing is always a very refreshing experience, and I’ve received lots of positive feedback at the doors. Whether we’re discussing transit, community facilities, or affordability, I’m hearing that residents are very pleased with the direction in which the City is moving.

I always say that in politics, you either run on your record or you run from it. I’m very proud about everything that we’ve accomplished in just four short years, and I appreciate hearing that so many people feel the same way.

Office opening and BBQ
