Jim Watson reelected as Mayor of Ottawa for third consecutive term

“Thank you for giving me once again a strong mandate as Mayor of Ottawa. I am honoured to be given the opportunity and the privilege to lead our great city for four more years.

I want to congratulate all those who had the courage, the conviction and the energy to put their name forward as candidates for City Council in this election. Our city and our democracy are stronger for your contributions.
I am so proud of the progress we’re making as a city, and I am excited for the next steps we’ll take together.
I am committed to bringing a renewed sense of purpose, energy and cooperation to the new term of Council. I am very humbled by the tens of thousands of Ottawa residents who have supported me from every area of our city.
I am grateful for the confidence you have placed in me to move our city forward.
My top priorities for my third term will be to see the launch of the Confederation Line of our Light Rail Transit System (LRT) and to start construction on Stage 2 LRT, which will bring rail farther east to Orléans and Trim Road, farther west to Bayshore, Algonquin College and Moodie Drive, and farther south to Riverside South and the Ottawa International Airport. I also look forward to the new Ottawa Central Library ground-breaking and moving the Lebreton Flats Redevelopment forward.
Let’s continue the work we have started to create a better city for all residents - a great city we are proud to call home. Together, let’s Work for a better Ottawa.”
